NO MAN IS AN ISLAND
So sometime in July I had the privilege of going to Zambia
for the first time and seeing the falls from the Zambian side and I must say it was a
wonderful experience to say the least. Also got to meet up with good old friends from Zambia, we had the privilege of them giving us a guided tour of the rain forest. By now you might be wondering why does me having to go to Zambia and the
title of my piece have to do with each other do not despair for all shall soon
be revealed.Among the things I enjoyed about going to Zambia was going to the
boiling pot a magnificent spectacle it is and I was in awe as I got up close and personal with the mighty Zambezi.My focus now takes a turn from being that of a travel destination adviser to focusing on the hike I had down to the boiling pot in the good hands of a dear friend.The hike
down to the boiling pot is a rather dangerous one, since the terrain is
treacherous due to its steepness.So my friend saw that I was a bit uneasy and being herself grabbed a hold of my hand and she guided
me along the path telling me were to be more cautious until we got to the
pot.The rest of the team we were with was following behind rather taking in the view well I on the other hand was in a rush to get to the boiling to dwell at the spectacle that I heard so much about.So as we trudged along the pathway I would slip and my friend would provide me with support so that I would not fall.The patriarchal nature of most of our societies has told us that the roles should have been reversed and I should have been the night in shining armor holding the ladies hand and guiding her all the way,but the trick lies in that I had never walked this path before and my friend had had this hike numerous occasions so she was the most qualified person for the job.The moral lesson here lies in that ladies and gentleman no man is an island and we all need help no matter how strong and courageous you are or you think you are,at some point in time you will fall short and when that time comes do not be too proud to ask for help, when in need because failure to ask for help might result in you landing you landing yourself in a rather sticky situation.So ladies and gentleman we all need a helping hand and if you look for it you will find it and grab it and when it looks for you do not turn a blind eye take a hold of it.
